Something simple. Something nice. Something Christmas-y for you and me!

What I love about the holidays is the endless chance to give joy through doing something creative. So today, I took the chance to say thank you to our household helpers by making a simple wall design for their traditional Christmas party. Definitely a fun and beautiful night! It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

My dad wants a real tree for Christmas. So instead of buying the usual artificial Christmas tree, he bought this really thin, young tree that didn't have much leaves on it!

Sooo....

THE CHALLENGE: Make a limp tree look like a Christmas Tree

I dressed it up with Christmas light balls to create a homey and warm feel. I knew I could just have bought these from the department store.....but what's the fun in that?:)

The Process...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Tribute to an Angel

I miss making things for mom.

So now on her (supposed to be) 59th birthday, I use my hands again to say a simple "thanks" and a whole lot of "I miss you!" I'm forever a fan, Mom. :)

("Tribute to an Angel" Paper Cut, 11/03/13)

“She is clothed with strength and dignity and she laughs at the days to come.  She opens her mouth in wisdom, and on her tongue is kindly counsel.  Her children rise up and praise her, her husband, too extols her.  Many are the women of proven worth, but you have excelled them all.” (Ecclesiastes 31:25-29)

Love,
Pi

HOT: INSTAGRAM MAGNETS!

Something new, something hip, something handmade!:)

What I love about crafting is it's very personal. The whole process, from conceptualizing to the finishing touches, everything takes place in the crafter's mind and hands. For me, nothing can get any more fulfilling, really, that's why I would love to share the experience with you!

You can now be part of the whole creative process by sending in your favorite Instagram photos, then I can make it into magnets! Exciting!:)

Get your very own Instagram magnets!!!:) Perfect as gifts, giveaways, encouragement tokens, or just your very own personal reminder of the more important things in life...<3

Just drop me an E-mail for orders and more details. Looking forward to creating with you!:)

Dream Catchers and New Beginnings<3

New things always excite me especially when that "new thing" manages to cry all night long and still remain the cutest, most adorable creature in the planet! Yes, more BABIES (really in plural form) in the family!

My eldest sister just gave birth to her second baby boy and my second sister is about to give birth this month to her third daughter! So in celebration of this baby boom in our family, my third sister, Carla, and I, plus the husbands of my sisters, organized a surprise (ehem) baby shower party last Sunday. I was super excited coz a party meant a chance to craft!!!Yey!

Our theme was originally Cowboys and Indians but we ended up doing the Indian theme only since my other sister gave birth a week before the party! The invitation was designed by Carla and the copy was by me. You can't read it without singing it *wink*

I made a BIG dream catcher and 4 small ones and Ate Carla made the banderitas to decorate our garage.

I had no idea how to make a dream catcher so I experimented with a thick wire, binding rings, jute string, beads, and crochet threads.

It took me almost an hour to cover the whole wire...

But it was so fulfilling when I finished. Really worth it!:) Here's how the big dream catcher looks. I added beads in the middle to give it more color.

I just super love the colors! It's so HAPPY!:)

This is my favorite piece...orange <3

I hung one small dream catcher at the entrance of the sala and a few more at the "photo booth" area.

Here's my niece, Sofia, loving the dream catchers and helping us set the whole place up. Thanks Sofia!<3

My sister Ria finally arrived. SURPRISE!:) Ate Carla wore the head dress she made on Ate Ria. The feathers are made with printed cloth. She also made a teepee for the dining table. Great job!:)

Ate Ria took photos with the dream catchers I made.

It was a day full of blessings, crafts, and family! Perfect combination:)

*CHEERS* to my crafting partner on this project. We did it, Ats! Oh, the crazy creative stuff we do for all these kids!!!:)

All these dream catchers are in my room now. Good bye bad dreams and hello to new inspirations:) Ahhh, what a beautiful day! <3

The Biggest Paper Mache Project

I was fixing the files in my laptop when I found these photos!:) I can't believe I made this project more than a year ago already. All for the love of Gabby <3 Read on.

When my nephew was little, he super loved Dibo the Gift Dinosaur. So when he was about to celebrate his first birthday, I decided to make him a paper mache Dibo that he can hug or even sit on. I had no idea how to make it but I just went through the whole process. I guess with intense divine intervention and some cosmic alignment, I made it!!! Even I was surprised how BIG it turned out!

I stacked big computer boxes and Styrofoam for the structure. Then I stuffed it with crumpled newspaper to create its form. Then, packaging tape everywhere!

Time for the actual paper mache. I tore strips of newspaper and stuck it to the structure using a combination of white glue and water. I think I made 2 layers of this.

Now for casting! I applied 3 layers of toilet paper and painted it over with white glue and water. Thanks to my awesome assistant (Hi Dad!), i finished it faster.

Then....

Some paint and a sprinkle of MAGIC!

Hi Dibo!:)

This is Dibo on site, collecting birthday presents for Gabby. It was all worth it!:)

I hope my next nephew won't ask for transformers...;)
